Since I’m interested in User Experience, I took a class titled “Online Writing Instruction: User Experience.” This class piqued my interest in Online Writing Instruction because it is another area where I can utilize my technical writing skills, enthusiasm for user experience, and interest in instruction.

Four-week Writing Unit
A four-week unit that leads first-year college students through weeks 2-5 of an introductory college composition course.
This four-week project uses scaffolding, PARS, and effective instructional design elements, such as repetition, plain language, and Bloom’s taxonomy. Weekly assignments include learning materials, discussion boards, and reflection activities.

Four-week Writing Unit
A class website that leads college students through the final four weeks of an introductory college composition course.
This four-week project utilized multimodal components to create a rich, diverse learning experience. Incorporating the learning design components found in the original OWI project, this project includes videos and instructional materials delivered via a class website.

Teaching Assistant Materials
Materials created while teaching Composition I & II as a graduate assistant.
Working from the shell courses for each class, I created my class materials that aligned with the course shells. These materials included class schedules, assignment sheets, and rubrics. Within these materials and Blackboard, our LMS, I employed user-centered design and best practices for online writing instruction.
